Instagram Title Card Maker

Title cards for YouTube Shorts and TikTok

The cards from this maker aren't only for Instagram. YouTube Shorts and TikTok use the same tall 9:16 frame (1080x1920), so one transparent PNG works on all three. What changes is which parts of the screen each app covers.

Quick answer

Make the card once, export at 3x, and put it in the top third of your video, a little below the very top edge. That spot stays clear on Reels, Shorts and TikTok. Keep the bottom and the right side free: all three apps put the caption, the account name and the buttons there.

What each app covers

Instagram Reels

Account name and caption along the bottom, like, comment and share buttons down the right. Exact numbers and a free overlay are on the Reels safe zone page.

YouTube Shorts

Title, channel name and subscribe button across the bottom, the action buttons on the right, and the app's own icons at the very top. The middle of the top third is the calm spot.

TikTok

Username, caption and sound name at the bottom, buttons on the right, and the Following / For You tabs at the top. Keep the card a bit lower than the tabs.

Apps move these things around between versions and phones, so check one upload on your own phone before you post a batch.

One card for all three

  1. Write one line. About 9 words or fewer. Need ideas? Try the hook generator, then the hook checker.
  2. Pick a style that reads on any feed. White stacked pills (Classic) work on every app and over any footage. Fancy fonts look like Instagram's own text, which is great on Reels and a bit out of place on Shorts.
  3. Export at 3x. It fits a 1080x1920 timeline at a comfortable size and stays sharp after each app compresses the video.
  4. Place it once, export three times if you need to. Same timeline, same card. If one app covers something, nudge the card down a little rather than making three versions.

Put it on your video

CapCut on your phone

Overlay, Add overlay, pick the PNG from your photos, then pinch to size it and drag it into the top third. Trim its length to match the hook.

Premiere, CapCut desktop, DaVinci

Put the PNG on a track above your video and scale it down. Step by step for each one on title cards on PC.

Inside the apps

The Shorts and TikTok editors are made for their own text and stickers. For your own card, it's easier to add it in an editor first and upload the finished video.

Questions

Can I use the same title card on YouTube Shorts and TikTok?

Yes. All three apps use a 1080x1920 vertical frame, so the same transparent PNG fits. Keep it in the top third, clear of the bottom and the right side.

Where should text go on YouTube Shorts?

In the top third, a little below the very top. The bottom holds the title, channel name and subscribe button, and the right side holds the buttons.

Where should text go on TikTok?

In the top third, below the Following and For You tabs. The bottom holds the username, caption and sound, and the buttons sit on the right.

What size should the title card be?

Export at 3x for a 1080x1920 video. It's big enough to stay sharp and fits the frame at a comfortable size.
